Turner completes online content deals

Turner Broadcasting System Europe has announced a number of deals that will see content from its TV brands appear across several online platforms.

Content from CNN International and Turner's entertainment brand Adult Swim will be available on Joost from October.

The deal means viewers will have on-demand access to news and feature programming from CNN’s video portfolio. Adult Swim, which includes comedy and animation shows like Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, has been Joost’s highest trafficked show on its US service. Previously available via invitation only, Joost became publicly available on October 1.

Casey Harwood, senior vice president for digital media at Turner Broadcasting System Europe said: "Turner has a track record of actively embracing new ways of distributing our content in line with changing consumer habits. Joost is an indicator of how the next generation will access and view television in the digital space and we’re excited to be part of this innovation."

Turner has also completed a deal that will see clips from its portfolio available to users across Europe on video sharing sites YouTube and DailyMotion.

Specially branded channels on YouTube will feature content from CNN International, Adult Swim, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) and the recently launched men’s channel Nuts TV.

Harwood added: "This is the logical next step in how we engage our users and we’re delighted to be working with YouTube as part of our wider content distribution strategy."
