ITV lifts RDF commissions suspension

ITV has lifted its suspension on commissioning new programmes from RDF.

The suspension was implemented after RDF supplied a tape for BBC One's Autumn press launch that purported to show the head of state stalking out of a photography session. In fact, the Queen was walking to the session. The tape was presented to journalists by BBC One controller Peter Fincham, who resigned after a report criticised his handling of the incident. RDF chief creative officer Stephen Lambert has also resigned.

In a statement today, RDF said: "RDF... is pleased to announce that ITV has confirmed, today, that it intends to lift the temporary suspension on new commissions, subject to formal sign-off on new compliance procedures that have been agreed between the two companies. This suspension was put in place by ITV this summer and was subject to the publication of the independent inquiry into the circumstances regarding the BBC’s autumn press launch. This report was published on the 5th October.

"The company is confident it has taken the appropriate steps to ensure a resumption of new business with ITV."
