Ted Childs has quit as executive producer of ITV's Lewis.
Childs, who brought Colin Dexter's Inspector Morse novels to TV in 1987, is reported to have had creative disagreements with senior producers on the show.
Broadcast cited a "source close to the show" as saying: "He felt he could not work as an executive producer on Lewis any longer because he was not able to operate as he would like."
Childs will step down from the role of executive producer once currently ongoing production on the second series is concluded.
