24 new community radio apps submitted
24 applications to run new community radio stations in north Wales and north west England have been submitted to Ofcom.

Among the applications are Gaydio, which hopes to run a full-time station for Manchester's LGBT community after three months of broadcasting during 2006 and 2007. Other applications are:

In north Wales: The Light FM (Rhyl), Point FM (Rhyl), Tudno FM (Llandudno), and Wrexham FM

In north west England: Bolton FM, Burnley FM, Canalside Community Radio (Macclesfield), CCM (Congleton), City Community Radio Preston, Flame Christian and Community Radio (Wirral), Halt FM (Altrincham, Hale and Bowden), The Kat (Crewe and Natwich), Knowsley Community College Live, North Manchester FM, Peace FM (Manchester), Preston FM, Radio Together (St. Helens), Radio Worm (Warrington), Rossendale Radio, The Source Radio (Lytham St Annes), Southport Community Radio, Tatton FM and Unity Radio (Manchester, Trafford and Salford).

Ofcom is expected to announce which stations have made successful applications early in the New Year.
