BBC
According to early figures, the 30-minute programme maintained an average of 5.1 million viewers - a 23% share of the audience - between 7pm and 7.30pm, topping the previous best of 4.8 million, set two weeks ago. Emmerdale still won the slot, however, with 7.9 million (37%) over the same period.
Since its relaunch in July this year, audiences for The One Show have been steadily increasing, averaging 3.6 million for the year to date.
Executive producer Tessa Finch told DS that it had taken time for the audience to find the show: "We always knew that launching a live daily show, we wouldn't come on air day one with an instant hit... it was always going to take a few months. We'd hoped to be roughly where we are by now but getting 5 million is a real bonus."
