The BBC's head of audiences Chris Mundy is leaving to become managing director of new advertising clearance organisation Clearcast.

The Broadcasting Advertising Clearance Centre (BACC) is setting up Clearcast as a joint venture between commercial broadcasters to provide "pre-transmission clearance and administration" services for adverts and manage contracts and administration.

Mundy, who leaves a senior role at the corporation, will lead its development.

"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to join Clearcast as its first managing director," he commented. "I'm looking forward to working with the team to build on the existing strengths of the BACC and create a new company that is focused on meeting the advertising industry's needs in an increasingly complex multimedia advertising environment."

BACC chairman Andy Barnes added: "We are very lucky to have secured his services and I believe that he will relish this challenging new role."
