UKTV begins widescreen tests
Published Friday, Nov 30 2007, 20:34 GMT | By James Welsh

Back in February, the broadcaster conducted a viewer survey on the subject of widescreen. It was later reported that UKTV planned to move to widescreen for programmes available in 16:9 on January 31, 2008.
Tonight, DS forum members watching UKTV Gold reported that the channel was showing Spiceworld and ABC's Dancing with the Stars in widescreen. Adverts continued to be broadcast in 4:3 and no widescreen advisory flag was present in the electronic programme guide.
