SMG appoints new media head

SMG, which owns Virgin Radio and STV, has appointed a former Scotsman.com editor as its head of new media.
Alistair Brown left the newspaper in 2006 and has since been general manager of Scottish listings website The List.
He will lead strategy and development for SMG with growing STV's website a key task.
SMG chief executive Rob Woodward said: "Alistair's knowledge and experience in new media will ensure that we maximise our online presence and focus on the growth opportunities for stv.tv which is a key part of our turnaround strategy.
"Alistair will be responsible for the commercialisation of stv.tv and content creation to ensure that we achieve our growth targets."
