Matsushita and Google have developed a television that can access YouTube and show its films in widescreen.
They have been working together to produce the Viera plasma device which will go on sale in the US in the Spring.
Toshihiro Sakamoto, president of Panasonic AVC Networks, explained: "This is the first time mainstream consumers will be able to easily enjoy YouTube videos from the living room with the enhanced quality of a fully integrated widescreen TV experience."
It will also be able to access Google photo-sharing service Picasa Web Albums.
The announcement comes shortly after rivals announced internet services for their sets.
Sony this week launched an add-on module for its Bravia LCD HDTVs, costing $499, that enables them to access content provided by CBS.
Sharp has also announced its Aquos Net feature which gives Aquos LCD TV owners access to limited web-based content.
