Oneword Radio to shut down
Published Thursday, Jan 10 2008, 12:56 GMT | By James Welsh
Digital speech station Oneword Radio is to cease operating on Saturday, January 12.
The station's future has been in doubt since Channel 4 recently sold back for £1 its 51% stake in the station that it acquired for £1m from UBC in 2005.
In a statement on its website, Oneword said: "Unfortunately Oneword will no longer be broadcasting from Saturday 12th January. We are genuinely grateful to all our listeners for their loyal and continued support over the last eight years."
Its DAB Digital Radio licence on the Digital One national multiplex has a further four years to run and it is not known at this stage what UBC has planned. The station was also available on Sky, Freeview, and the internet.
