UKTV confirms widescreen lineup
Published Friday, Jan 25 2008, 12:28 GMT | By James Welsh

The broadcaster commenced widescreen tests on November 30 and has now posted on its website that the 9 UKTV channels will be able to show programmes in the format.
UKTV explained: "Due to our extensive back catalogue, we can't broadcast every programme in widescreen immediately, but we'll be increasing our library throughout 2008. This means you'll be able to see some great Hollywood blockbusters, the best of classic BBC shows and UKTV's exclusive new content the way it was meant to be seen - in widescreen.
"But don't worry about our older programmes. We won't mess around with them and will continue to show them in the original format they were filmed in."
The programmes to be shown in widescreen in February are: Robin Hood, Waterloo Road, Jekyll, Panic Room, UKTV's coverage of the World Rally Championship, Dragons' Den season 4, Jack Dee Live At The Apollo, Kick Ass Miracles, Escape to the Country, Masterchef Goes Large, Medical Emergency, Surviving Disaster and Saving Planet Earth. Selected episodes of Dalziel and Pascoe, Mock the Week, Top Gear and Have I Got News For You will also go out in 16:9.
