The channel today confirmed the date of the revamp which it says will bring more user-generated content to primetime, more interactivity and an empasis on single dramas, live entertainment and factual.
Under its new guise all programmes will air simultaneously on a new BBC Three website.
Controller Danny Cohen said today: "I'm delighted to confirm BBC Three's fantastic line up of new programmes on air from next Tuesday, along with our innovative and exciting approach to television for young audiences.
"BBC Three is aiming to become Britain's most ambitious multi-platform network – combining television and the web into a single, integrated offering."
Headline shows for the channel's new season will include single drama Phoo Action from Jamie Hewlett and chat show Lily Allen And Friends.
There will also be a redesign with the channel losing its "blob" characters.
