Shine has bought Los Angeles producer Reveille to become one of the UK's biggest indies.
The deal is worth between $140m and $200m, though the amount paid for the 100% buyout has not been confirmed.
Shine chief executive Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of Rupert, said: "Reveille is a unique production company. Their creativity, drive and track record in production and distribution is unrivalled in the US and internationally."
Reveille managing director Lee Rierson added: "By combining Reveille's outstanding management team and track record domestically and internationally with Shine's extraordinary strength in the UK, this transaction creates a truly global entertainment powerhouse."
Reveille senior managers will remain in place. Distribution arm Reveille International will become Shine Reveille with Shine's subsidiary indies contributing content to it.
