Theakston's programme with Harriet Scott is the most listened to breakfast show in London according to recent RAJAR listening figures.
Global Radio, which owns Heart, also announced a new three-year deal with LBC 97.3 host Nick Ferrari. LBC has also recently secured Ken Livingstone and Apprentice reject Tre Azam for presenting roles.
Richard Park, who took over as acting chief executive of Global yesterday, said he was keen to hold on to popular names.
"Quality talent is the lifeblood of our business, and we are pleased to have signed long-term contracts with two of the most consistent and popular presenters in the commercial radio industry," he said.
Park has taken up the role as part of Global's arrangements for buying former rival GCap Media.
