Val Kilmer signs for 'Bad Lieutenant'

Val Kilmer will star in Werner Herzog's crime drama Bad Lieutenant.

He will star opposite Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes in the remake of the 1992 Abel Ferrara movie.

Rapper Xzibit, Fairuza Balk, Brad Dourif, Vondie Curtis Hall, Jennifer Coolidge and Shawn Hatosy have also signed up for the project.

Kilmer will play Cage's police partner, while Xzibit will play a nemesis named Big Fade, according to Variety.

The movie is scheduled to begin shooting later this summer.
