Lautner: 'Transformation was hard work'

Taylor Lautner has revealed that he worked hard to make sure he would return for the second Twilight film.

Before New Moon began shooting, reports suggested that Lautner could be dropped from the cast. However, he kept his role in the movie after transforming his physique.

"I knew when I was filming Twilight that Jacob's character goes in a different direction [in New Moon]," he told the Los Angeles Times. "He transforms not only emotionally and mentally but physically as well.

"As soon as I was done filming Twilight, I literally got home and that day I went into the local gym and was like, 'I need a trainer because I need to get big'. I moved around gyms quite a bit and I moved around trainers and finally found one that I worked with the whole time, almost."

Lautner continued: "It required a lot of dedication. The fans and the whole series and the character motivated me, and I did it. It was a lot of hard work. I had to be in the gym a lot and I had to eat a lot, but I'm very thankful that I did it because it's definitely worth it now."
