A member of the New York City council has introduced a bill that would force cinemas to list the start times of films as when the actual presentation starts, not when the ad reel starts rolling.

A Democrat from Manhattan, Councilwoman Gale Brewer said that "we can tell the industry that they have to be honest about when their movies start, not their ads."

If the rest of the City's council agrees, cinemas would face fines of up to $1,000 for each violation.
