No work on 'The Hobbit' for four years

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has said that he won't be starting work on a film version of The Hobbit for up to four years.

Jackson admits that he has a "desire" to make the film, but the project faces difficulties because the rights to JRR Tolkien's novel are split between two major film studios.

"I think it's gonna be a lot of lawyers sitting in a room trying to thrash out a deal before it will ever happen," he explained.

Jackson is currently working on a remake of classic film King Kong, and is also planning a film adaptation of Alice Sebold's best-selling novel, The Lovely Bones.
