'Hitchhiker's Guide' tops US chart

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy has entered the US box office chart at the top.

The Douglas Adams adaptation took $21.7m in its opening weekend, displacing former chart-topper The Interpreter from the top spot. The thriller took $14.2m over the weekend, giving it total earnings of $43.6m.
