I have to say I was really pleased with this film. I thought Depp played a fantastic part while Burton's fresh 'dark' take on it was an excellent new angle. Definitely worth watching.

I think this film was great, very funny and great fun. Johnny Depp was excellent he played the part perfectly. Although the film was very good it is no comparison to the original.

I'd have to say that this film was actually much better than the original, it stuck properly to the Roald Dahl classic. Johnny Depp was excellent in portraying Willy Wonka (done brilliantly). Charlie was also portrayed perfectly. A joy to watch. You cant be too old to watch this.

I saw this last night and was amazed. I loved the 1971 version, but this outpast it in its magical glory. Depp plays Wonka with oustanding eccentricity and give not only a weird, but eerie portrayal as one of children's favourite heros. He acts just like a people shy millionaire should. The supporting cast are brilliant, David Kelly was an excellent cast and Christopher Lee's cameo was superb. I'm 16 and I loved this, maybe a bit too eerie for under 8s but worth the ticket price.

My all time favourite film ... being remade? Surely not! But it was ace. Apart from the Oompa Loompas. Johnny was cool as Willy ... he was so enjoying the part. I liked the way the story had subtle differences and a better ending. Great film.

It was great I saw it three times with my friend. Plus Johnny Depp is cute. I love all the songs - they're so unorthodox. I can't wait till it comes out on DvD. I am gonna watch it every day. I am gonna get the CD too!!! Ps. Tim Burton Did I wonderful job casting Johnny Depp. I LOVED It

I think this film was super! The actors and actresses were perfect for the roles. Just the oompa loompas were a bit weird.....

Complete RUBBISH!! Never have I seen such childish acting and staging and basically everything! It all sucked!

What a load of crap! Never liked the first film and was dragged to see this by my girlfriend and I have to say it was appalling, the oompa loompas in this film was the most blatantly racist thing I have ever seen since American History X. At least in the first one they were purely fictional but in this one there is one little indian/asian (cant tell!) duplicated, sorry Mr Depp but there is no way you should have chosen this film as aside from it being crap there is no way this will fly in America!

Absolutely loved it!! It's brilliant and my son agrees with me. Johnny Depp plays the part of Willie Wonka to perfection. It's rare that a remake is as good or better than the original but in this case Tim Burton's done a terrific job.

Incredible. I made the effort to see this in IMAX and I'm glad I did. The sheer size and spectacle of the IMAX screen made the film live. Everything, from staging, colour and audio were mind-blowing. If you get a chance, see it once more in the larger format, it does make a difference!

I loved the 1971 version and thought it was gonna be hard to capture all the same feelings in this new film. My daughter and I loved it!! The only character I didnt totally like was Wonka's...very modern and cold...but still worked.

Most of you are stupid. This ISN'T a remake. It's a NEW movie, based on the book more than the old one was. And don't sit here debating about it, 'cause I'm right. WONDERFUL movie, I would give it 5 stars.

It was good and Johnny Depp was by far the best actor in the movie and the film was overall fair but it lacked the Magic that the first 1971 adaption soared. The first film had lovely songs, a magical feel to it and a warm sensation, I know this one is more to the book but it was far more sinister, evil bullying songs and had this huge cold atmosphere throughout. I also thought the actor who played Charlie Buckett was a HUGE let down and very poor!

Not the best film, but Johnny Depp's amazing and comedic portrayal as the dopey Willy Wonka definitely made it fun to watch. At times it got a bit random but again the humor made it enjoyable.

I'm 16 and I thought this film was brilliant to watch. The actors such as Johnny Depp playing Willy Wonka portrayed him superbly and very funny and also Freddie Highmore playing Charlie - I must say that I preferred him than the Charlie played in the original! It's enjoyable for both adults and kids apart from I do find that the original was better only because I've always loved that as a kid! But I can say that the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is still as impressive as the first and I recommend people to watch it - superb film! Enjoyable to watch and lots of laughs!

I thought that the film was brilliant - it was a lot better than the old one. It had more eye-catching effects and better actors/actresses. I would recommend this film to anyone!

This film left a lot to be desired in comparison to the original.

They can now burn every single copy of the dire original. This movie was a masterpiece, brilliant from start to finish. Depp and Highmore are brilliant together. A very sweet film, literally!
