Doug Liman has agreed to direct Jumper, the first film of a planned trilogy.

Based on Steven Gold's novel, the story will focus on a 17-year-old boy who finds that he can teleport from one place to another.

Production will begin in the spring, after Jim Uhls (Fight Club) has done a rewrite of David Goyer's script, Variety reports.

Simon Kinberg, producer and writer of Liman's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, will produce along with Lucas Foster.
