'Crash' sales quadruple after Oscar win

DVD sales of Crash have quadrupled since it won best film at the Oscars, retailers have reported.

The film has shot from 44 to 18 in HMV's sales chart while Virgin Megastore saw a similar rise. Amazon said its US site saw a boom in sales of the DVD on Monday.

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said an Oscar win was "the best endorsement you can get."

"The great thing about Crash is that the film itself came out some time ago," he continued. "While it was critically acclaimed at the time, it may have passed some people by had it not won the Oscar."
