Russell Crowe was ordered to lose weight for his new movie because he was too fat for his role.
The actor stars as a CIA boss in Ridley Scott's new film Body Of Lies, which is based on a book by David Ignatius.
Scott, who also worked with Crowe in Gladiator, is quoted by Contactmusic as saying: "I've shot with Russell for the past five weeks. That's why he's so sturdy-looking at the moment.
"He's losing weight. He was 30 pounds overweight to do the part."
Body Of Lies, which also stars Leonardo DiCaprio, is currently filming in Morocco.
