Mira Sorvino has revealed that she is writing a baseball movie for her husband to star in.

Christopher Backus, 26, was a professional baseball player before giving up to try to make it as an actor.

Sorvino, who won an Oscar for her role in Woody Allen's 1995 film Mighty Aphrodite, said the project was a long-held dream for the couple.

She said: "The day we penned the first five pages was so exciting. We'd been talking about it for years, but then one day we just hired a babysitter to take the kids to the museum and sat there and banged stuff out."

The 40-year-old married Backus in 2004 and they have two children.
