British filmmaker Neil Marshall is to direct action-thriller Drive, starring Hugh Jackman.

Jackman will play a Hollywood stunt driver who discovers that there is a contract out on him while moonlighting as a getaway car driver for robberies.

Hossein Amini will write the script for Universal based on the novel by James Sallis, reports Variety.

Marshall said: "Hoss is a fantastic writer, and he's written three amazing car chases in the film. He's turned them into dramatic scenes as opposed to the usual crash, bang, wallop. I would like to be shooting it this summer."

He recently signed to write and direct horror movie Sacrilege for Universal-based Rogue Pictures. His latest movie Doomsday was released in the US earlier this month.
