Named as one of the 100 greatest English-language novels by Time Magazine, Ubik follows protagonist Joe Chip as he begins to question reality when his boss is killed in an explosion while journeying to the Moon.
Celluloid Dreams's Hengameh Panahi and Electric Shepherd's Isa Dick Hackett, the author's daughter, will produce the film, which is scheduled to begin filming early next year.
Hackett said: "Our dad very much wanted this novel to be reimagined in this way and we are happy to be partnering with Celluloid Dreams, whose overall vision and appreciation of the material is consistent with our own."
Several of Dick's novels have been turned into movies with varying degrees of success. Blade Runner, Total Recall, Minority Report, A Scanner Darkly and Next were all based on Dick stories.
