Scorsese drops Bob Marley documentary

Martin Scorsese will no longer direct the previously announced Bob Marley documentary, The Hollywood Reporter says.

The Oscar-winning Departed helmer, who has directed documentaries on Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones, quit the project due to "scheduling conflicts".

Jonathan Demme (The Silence Of The Lambs, Philadelphia) has agreed to replace Scorsese in the director's chair.

No stranger to music documentaries, Demme has previously overseen 2006's Neil Young: Heart Of Gold and the Talking Heads concert movie Stop Making Sense.

The untitled Marley documentary is scheduled for release on February 6, 2010, coinciding with the reggae singer's 65th birthday.
