'Sex' knocks 'Indy' from US top spot

Sex And The City has debuted at number one at the US box office.

The Sarah Jessica Parker comedy's $55 million opening knocked the latest Indiana Jones adventure into second place after its two-week reign at the top of the box office.

SATC has also set the record for the highest ever opening for a live-action adaptation of a TV series, beating Mission: Impossible's $45 million weekend take.

Horror thriller The Strangers was the only other new entry in the chart, coming in at number three with $20 million.
