The 32-year-old, who stars in brother Ben's directorial debut Gone Baby Gone, said he has more fun sitting at home making a sandwich than being an actor.
He told The Mirror: "Making movies for me is like taking medicine. It doesn't always taste good, but if you don't do it, you're going to feel worse.
"Some people have fun making movies, I don't understand that. I never have fun. I feel artistically satisfied and one must work, but it's never kind of a laugh."
Affleck plays a private investigator looking into the disappearance of a four-year-old girl in Gone Baby Gone.
