5 reasons why need to watch Turbo online now

Ryan Reynolds voices Theo the snail in the animated comedy Turbo from DreamWorks. Featuring a garden snail whose dream of becoming racing world champion comes true, it was one of the most popular family films of 2013.

The film is available to watch online now without a subscription, thanks to blinkbox.

Here are five reasons you should clear your schedule and watch Turbo instead:

1. It's not just for kids
Like with most DreamWorks offerings, the film is not exclusively aimed at children, and there are plenty of gags and pop culture references that all family members will enjoy. It's also surprisingly dark at times when it comes to the scary crows who terrorise the garden snail population.

2. It has a great voice cast
As well as lead star Ryan Reynolds, there is quite a variety of talent that you'll recognise. Paul Giamatti plays Theo's best friend, plus there's Michael Pena, Maya Rudolph, Michelle Rodriguez, Bill Hader, and even Snoop Dogg. Samuel L Jackson steals the show as Whiplash, surely the hardest snail on the planet, with or without his shell.

3. It's basically a superhero origin story
Without spoiling it, certain elements occur that turn Theo into Turbo, fastest snail on the planet, similar to how Peter Parker became Spider-Man and Bruce Banner turned into Hulk. The film shows that even the tiniest creatures can become superheroes.

4. It's a classic underdog story
Like the Cool Runnings team, Rocky and the Karate Kid before him, Theo's story is possibly one of the biggest changes from zero to hero ever to grace the screen. One day he is a simple garden snail with a love for motor racing, and within a week he's racing in the actual Indy 500 and is known around the world. How will he fare in the race? You'll have to watch to find out.

5. It's soundtrack is awesomely hip-hop
With Snoop Dogg in the cast, you can expect plenty of beats and rhymes in the soundtrack. As well as the rap idol, there is music from the likes of Run DMC, Pitbull, House of Pain and rap version of Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger'. Even Tom Jones and the Jackson 5 are featured.
