Trailer, poster for crime epic 'Carlos'

By
In its full form, Olivier Assayas's crime epic Carlos runs a bum-numbing five hours, but don't panic if you're after a more svelte cinema experience - there's also a two-and-a-half-hour version that will accompany it at the BFI London Film Festival later this month. For those of you who aren't London-centric, Carlos (both cuts) hits UK cinemas on October 22 before arriving on Blu-ray and DVD on November 1.

DS colleague Mayer Nissim caught the movie, about Venezuelan revolutionary Ilich Ramirez Sanchez (aka Carlos the Jackal), at Cannes earlier this year and says that it was his favourite film of the festival, so expect this to be a good one. We should also stress that he sat through the entire five-and-a-bit hours with just a friendly Dutch journo for company!
