'Rango': A sneak peek at Johnny Depp's latest

Normally when actors sign up to voice an animated character they can expect a few hours in a recording booth and be done with it. Not so on Rango, the CG toon that reunites Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski.

Carrying on from the methods Wes Anderson utilised on Fantastic Mr Fox, Verbinski brought all his cast together to make a kind of low-rent stage production of Rango to capture the actors' voices and use their movements as reference points for the animators.

Pirates alumnus Bill Nighy (playing "a rattlesnake with a machine gun in his tail"), Isla Fisher and Timothy Olyphant are also among the cast for the 3D animated Western, opening in cinemas on March 4, 2011. Click 'play' below to get an inside look at Rango.
