Kevin Smith's career swerve into 'Red State'

You all know Kevin Smith, right? He of the much-loved comedies Clerks, Chasing Amy and Dogma and the not-so-loved Cop Out fame? Well, he's taking an almighty (and intriguing) career swerve with horror film Red State, about religious fundamentalism gone to extremes in Middle America.
Michael Parks, John Goodman, Melissa Leo and Michael Angarano are among the cast for the movie, which Smith will sell off to distributors at the Sundance Film Festival next month in the hope of getting it into cinemas by March. Oh, and he's not doing any interviews for it either after getting a critical sherlacking for Cop Out.
Anyhow, we're unabashed fans of Silent Bob's early movies and hoping that this one signals a return to form. Click 'play' below to watch the eerie teaser trailer for Red State.
