Video preview: Robert Pattinson's 'Water for Elephants'

In the forthcoming film Water for Elephants, Twilight's Robert Pattinson stars as Jacob, a veterinary student who joins a travelling circus after the death of his parents. Reese Witherspoon is Marlena, the performer who catches Jacob's eye, while Christoph Waltz brings his patented menace as the love rival August. The movie is hitting US cinemas this Friday and arrives in the UK on May 4, so for a bit of a preview we've got four clips to get you in the mood for the romantic drama....

I'd hate to think of it
The tension is palpable as August and Jacob exchange terse words in between training up elephants for the circus act.



I'm a star attraction
The lights are dim and the mood is romantic as Marlena tells Jacob about her troubled childhood. Swoon as R-Pattz tells her: "You're a beautiful woman. You deserve a beautiful life."



Our salvation
The "salvation" of the title is a 53-year-old elephant called Rosie. August introduces the animal with the promise that she and Marlena can become the circus's star act.



Just come with me
Run away from the circus? Surely that's madness?! In this scene, Jacob asks Marlena to run away with him. What happens? Watch the clip below to find out...
