'Super 8': Ten teasers about the sci-fi smash

Anticipation is certainly high for Super 8, the new sci-fi thriller from the minds of J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg! Most of the more juicy plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that the film follows a group of teenagers in 1979 Ohio who witness a horrific train crash, with devastating consequences. We were lucky enough to get a sneak 20-minute preview recently and all we can say is, Super 8 is worth the wait! Check out ten teasers for the film below.

1. Something has escaped from Area 51, and it doesn't take too kindly to law enforcement.

2. The film's cast of young unknowns, including Elle (sister of Dakota) Fanning, are very impressive indeed.

3. Early scenes featuring our plucky lead Joe and friends are reminiscent of '80s classics like The Goonies and Stand By Me.

4. Comparisons to 2008's Cloverfield aren't entirely unwarranted either.

5. The train crash sequence is absolutely astounding, and the special effects in general are top-notch.

6. "Do not speak of this, or else you and your parents will die."

7. You can definitely feel Spielberg's influence - the film is surprisingly warm-hearted and humourous.

8. "I think I'm having a heart attack, and I have a scrape!"

9. What mysteries do the white cubes hold?

10. The sound of a bicycle bell precedes something very loud and very sinister.
