Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson returns to author JRR Tolkien for two prequel movies based on The Hobbit.
The fantasy story will be divided into two parts and released as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (on December 14, 2012) and The Hobbit: There and Back Again (December 13, 2013).
Martin Freeman stars as Bilbo Baggins with Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly, Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Sylvester McCoy, James Nesbitt, Lee Pace, Aidan Turner and Luke Evans among the cast. Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Sir Ian Holm, Sir Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis will reprise their roles from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
