Arriving 16 years after the release of Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace re-introduced the world of Star Wars to a brand new generation.
Young Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) began his journey to the dark side, with Jedis Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) joined by Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) on the adventure.

Episode I may have been much-maligned thanks to bumbling CGI sidekick Jar Jar Binks, but it's perhaps the prequel that holds up the best. An exhilarating podrace across the desert planet Tatooine and the villainous Darth Maul (Ray Park) meant that this one lingered in the memory, even if it was burdened by sky-high fan expectation.
Star Wars: The Complete Saga is released on Blu-ray on September 12.
