'Star Wars' revisited: 'A New Hope' on Blu-ray - video, pictures

The movie that revolutionised blockbusters in 1977, George Lucas's Star Wars thrust young farm boy Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) on an epic space adventure with a pair of droids, swashbuckling hero Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and the beautiful Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher).
From the opening crawl ("A long time ago...") to John Williams's iconic score, Star Wars quickly found a place in movie history and set the ball rolling for a franchise that netted its creator a fortune.

It's hard to believe that the movie cost a mere $11 million - chump change for Hollywood. Its pioneering special effects and adventurous spirit helped it gross a staggering $775 million at the box office. And with its sequel, an even better movie was to come...
Star Wars: The Complete Saga is released on Blu-ray on September 12.
