'Star Wars' revisited: 'Empire Strikes Back' on Blu-ray - video, pictures

The Empire Strikes Back saw George Lucas hand over the directorial reins to movie veteran Irvin Kershner. Luke's Jedi training continued with Yoda in the Dagobah system, Han Solo is torn away from Princess Leia when he's frozen in carbonite and a big revelation is reserved for the finale during Luke's confrontation with Darth Vader.

The darkest (and possibly best) of the entire Star Wars saga, Empire Strikes Back took the series to new dramatic heights. From start to finish it's still as engrossing as ever, packing in an amazing opening set piece on the ice planet Hoth and one of the most memorable lines in blockbuster movie history. All together now: "I am your father!"
Star Wars: The Complete Saga is released on Blu-ray on September 12.
