10. Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977)
A surprisingly low voting turnout from Digital Spy readers for this Spielberg classic, which was released the same year as George Lucas's more bombastic Star Wars. Jaws star Richard Dreyfuss reunited with Spielberg to play Roy Neary, a family man who finds a talent for sculpting mashed potato after an extra-terrestrial encounter.
9. Hook (1991)
Robin Williams plays the grown-up Peter Pan who rediscovers lost childhood wonder when he returns to Neverland to rescue his kids. Dustin Hoffman is in fine form as the moustache-twirling Captain Hook, while Julia Roberts crops up as Tinkerbell and Maggie Smith is the elderly Wendy.
8. Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Leonardo DiCaprio plays young conman Frank Abagnale Jr, who's hotly pursued by Tom Hanks in this wickedly entertaining caper. It's the most fun Leo's had on-screen, and Hanks is marvellous as cantankerous FBI agent Carl Hanratty. We're big fans of Hanratty's 'Knock Knock' joke!
7. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
Despite being only 12 years older than Harrison Ford, Sean Connery made a convincingly doting father to Indiana Jones in the third franchise instalment. Indy and his pop rode off into the sunset in the final scene, but the series would return some 19 years later with some extra-terrestrial visitors.
6. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
The World War II drama won Spielberg his second 'Best Director' Academy Award. Tom Hanks' Captain Miller leads a team searching for Matt Damon's paratrooper, who's missing behind enemy lines. The film's blistering opening sequence, depicting the Omaha Beach landing, still hits home hard.
