2012: The movie year in pictures - Oscars, Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall

2012 is almost over, and what a year it's been in the world of movies! Things started and ended with a bang for Benedict Cumberbatch, who found himself cast in the new Star Trek movie in January and then front and centre of the film's publicity blitz come December.

There was plenty kicking off in the months between, too. Angelina Jolie managed to upstage The Artist at the Oscars with a not-so-discreet leg flash, The Hunger Games and The Avengers became runaway franchise hits, while we waved goodbye to Batman in The Dark Knight Rises and Bella and Edward in Breaking Dawn - Part 2. Furthermore, it was a vintage year for James Bond, who celebrated 50 years in style with the release of Skyfall.
