Awards season may be in full flow, but don't let that distract you from taking a trip to the cinema in February. This month sees the return of John McClane for a fifth Die Hard instalment, while Wreck-It Ralph and Cloud Atlas finally make it to the big screen in the UK.

Digital Spy looks at 5 must-see releases for February below:

Flight
Release date: February 1
Why you should see it: Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis has been dabbling in motion-capture for more than a decade and Flight marks his first live-action feature since What Lies Beneath. Denzel Washington leads the cast as an airline pilot who saves his passengers' lives while under the influence. The drama explores murky moral grey areas and earned Washington a well-deserved Oscar nomination.

I Give It A Year
Release date: February 8
Why you should see it: The words "British romantic comedy" may conjure up visions of Richard Curtis's idealised view of London, so we're keen to see a different slant on the genre from Sacha Baron Cohen collaborator Dan Mazer. Rafe Spall and Rose Byrne play a married couple who experience a turbulent time when they tie the knot after a whirlwind romance. With Anna Faris and a scene-stealing Stephen Merchant in the supporting cast, could we be looking at a British Bridesmaids?

Wreck-It Ralph
Release date: February 8
Why you should see it: Disney's latest animated flick centres on a video game character who's down in the dumps because he always has to play the bad guy. This movie is packed with homages to classic arcade machines and console characters, as John C Reilly and Sarah Silverman voice the titular Ralph and glitch-ridden Vanellope. A moving story about underdogs triumphing, this will please Disney fans and gamers alike.

A Good Day to Die Hard
Release date: February 14
Why you should see it: "Yippee Ki-Yay Mother Russia" yells the tagline for Die Hard No. 5. This time Bruce Willis's John McClane is causing havoc in Europe as he heads to Moscow to bail son Jack (Jai Courtney) out of trouble, only to discover that he's actually a CIA agent. After Arnie and Sly's comebacks earlier this year, could Willis's action-fest end up topping them both?

Cloud Atlas
Release date: February 22
Why you should see it: The Matrix masterminds Lana and Andy Wachowski team up with Run Lola Run's Tom Tykwer to bring David Mitchell's epic novel to the big screen. The all-star ensemble cast, including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant, all play different characters across six different time periods for this mega-budgeted drama. Masterpiece or ambitious folly? You'll be able to decide on February 22.
