Aliens (1986)
Ridley Scott's genre-redefining Alien left some fairly sizeable shoes to fill, but there's plenty who would argue James Cameron succeeded with this follow-up, in which Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) returns to the hostile alien planet accompanied by a rescue team. If Terminator hadn't yet cemented Cameron as a genre director with serious studio clout, this sealed the deal.
