Die Hard (1988)
The least festive Christmas Eve film ever made, the first (and best) Die Hard instalment sees NYPD officer John McClane (Bruce Willis) find his holiday plans scuppered by a group of terrorists who take an entire building hostage. As pure action entertainment goes, this remains tough to beat, and if you're ever having a bad Christmas it's a great way to get some perspective.
