Rain Man (1988)
Following his father's death, a self-centred and arrogant young man (Tom Cruise) is forced to reconnect with his autistic brother (Dustin Hoffman) in Barry Levinson's Oscar-scooping drama. Although Hoffman was rightly lauded for his skilled and specific performance, the subtlety of what Cruise does as his character's worldview gradually shifts shouldn't be underestimated.
