We're conditioned at this point to regard any spaceship's computer in a sci-fi movie with fear and distrust, but Kevin Spacey's omnipotent GERTY really does have troubled astronaut Sam Bell's (Sam Rockwell) best interests at heart, offering everything from haircuts to emotional support.
