Nick Love ('The Firm')

Published Monday, Feb 1 2010, 06:00 GMT | By Simon Reynolds
A blend of his coming-of-age debut Goodbye Charlie Bright, the hooligan posturing of The Football Factory and the '80s backdrop of The Business, Nick Love's The Firm finds the London-born filmmaker retelling Alan Clarke's 1988 TV movie through the eyes of an impressionable cockney teen. DS caught up with Love ahead of the movie's home release to find out why the original means to much to him, how his remake fits into his previous work and why he didn't get Danny Dyer to take over the Gary Oldman role from the original. Hit 'play' below to watch the interview.

The Firm is released on DVD and Blu-ray today.
