Minnie Driver 'Hunky Dory' interview: 'Glee comparisons are wonky'

By and Tom Mansell
Minnie Driver is back from across the pond for a trip down memory lane in Hunky Dory.

The actress was tempted back by Welsh director Marc Evans, whose latest film is set in '70s Swansea and follows a bunch of teens trying to stage a rock musical version of William Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Driver stars as a kooky, loud-mouthed drama teacher and believes that comparisons to hit musical TV show Glee might be "a bit wonky".

"This is such an organic, gritty version of that. Yes, there are kids singing in it and there are students in a school, but that's really where it's similar," she told Digital Spy.

"Glee is like a big, polished pop music video and this is what I think is a classic, fantastic, small British film that happens to have all this music from the '70s in it."

Hunky Dory opens in UK cinemas on March 2.
