In Whedon's own words, it's "not just a teen slasher" picture, as the visitors to the eponymous cabin - among them Chris Hemsworth, Jesse Williams and Kristen Connolly - uncover hidden secrets about the rickety old shack.

MGM's bankruptcy left Cabin in limbo for several years, but Whedon tells Digital Spy that the project, which he co-wrote and produced for Goddard to direct, is "really important" to him.
Whedon said: "It is a genuine labour of love, and it's a love of creepy horrible things. It was a joy to write, really difficult to make, and then of course the studio went bankrupt and the roof caved in.
"That happened a couple of years ago - it just blossomed [since then], Lionsgate came and said, 'By the way we love this'. They've done such a wonderful job with it and all of a sudden Drew and I are standing around going, 'Oh, here we go!' It's an absolute joy."
The Cabin in the Woods opens in UK cinemas on Friday.
