So You Think You Can Dance's Kathryn McCormick teams up with MMA fighter Ryan Guzman as 'The Mob' crew surprise residents of sun-drenched Miami with some eye-catching and elaborate dance sequences.
Speaking to Digital Spy, McCormick said that she found it a challenge to adapt to the different dancing styles presented in the movie.
"You never see the same style twice," she said. "They're all difficult in their own sense and, depending on where we were, if [Ryan] was on an escalator, if I was on a stage barefoot when it was burning outside and really hot on my feet, in the sand, in heels, it was always different depending on our environment.
"It was difficult for me to do some of the more isolated movements in hip-hop because I am more of a technical dancer. I like beautiful lines and flow and breath and I had to be a lot sharper. I think I've gotten experience through So You Think You Can Dance to do that, but it was something I learned a lot."
Step Up 4: Miami Heat opens in UK cinemas on August 10.
